Mainframe - An Evergreen Technology

Hi Folks through this poster i would like to share my Mainframe experience, Since i have a year of experience in a mainframe technology as a System Programmer. It fully comprises of system side process rather than a coding. Event though its a system side it need a language called JCL in order to interact with Mainframe operating system. The kind of work we are doing is break fixing for production abend (error or down) jobs.

The process will handle following concepts like VSAM,CICS(online process),MQ REGION, DB2 TABELS,FILES,IPL OF SYSTEM etc....

I just want to discuss those concepts and need to learn more from others those who are working under the same area. With this begining i will start with a small command which will be using in cics regio to close some online files...

step1--> Sign on into corresponding CICS region
step2--> look the status of the file you need to close by using the following command
CEMT I FILE(FILENAME) - command will show the current status of the file
ste3--> issue the following command to change the status of the file
CEMT S FILE(FILE NAME).

So Folks like this if u have learnt anything in maiframe especially those who are working under Production control please suggest and teach me what you learnt as a System Programmer.
